Laine Discepoli has been painting for as long as she can remember. Her first company, MissElaineous Decorative Painting, was founded in in 1989. While working as a full-time advertising executive, Laine started by painting small accessories, home portraits, and furniture. She used her spare time to travel the countryside, attending fairs and craft shows. Uninspired by her day job but enthralled by her passion for painting, Laine began painting full-time with the unending support of husband, John, an executive investment professional. "Giving up that comfortable salary and a jumping two feet into a painting career was a little like jumping off a cliff," states Laine. Her painting business has flourished and she has not once looked back. With her solid business background she’s equipped to make smart decisions. She’s invested in herself and her business all along the way with training and an accumulation of tools and equipment. Today Laine thrives on the excitement of juggling her decorative painting business with the joy of encouraging and teaching others. In addition, she and husband and business partner, John, are raising twins and several pets, and enjoy continually re-decorating their 1860’s farmhouse. "Our home is a bit like a guinea pig. If anything sits still too long, it gets repainted!" says Laine, who is committed to staying abreast of new products and techniques. Is the faux finish craze here to stay? "Finishes and techniques may come and go, but style never goes out of style!"
